A tenacious, loving, and energetic photographer who enjoys grabbing my camera and running out to take some photos.
I am also a reclaimed artist who is happy to hang out at home and use my imagination to create beauty through various artistic media.
Welcome to Conzelmann Castle Photography! I am Julie Conzelmann, and I live on beautiful Camano Island, in Washington State, with my husband, Eric; two black cats, Apollo and Aura; and Chiweenie, Canela. Camano Island is best known for myriad wildlife in the wooded areas and the ocean surrounding our island, and is home to many artists–including me! I have been a resident of this wonderful island since 2012!
Nature has always been an inspiration for me. Birds are my first love! Watching our feathered friends on their mission to find food and water, feed their babies, and build their nests on our National Wildlife Foundation-certified property just amazes me! Anything that flies mesmerizes me, so you will see many photos of winged friends in their natural state in my portfolio. I also take whimsical photos of other living beings, and landscape images. Images captured through my camera lens reveal the unspoken stories of various animals or moments in time in nature. Mediums for my photos include digital copies, lap blankets, pillows, mugs, and stretched canvas.
When I was a child, I loved to draw and paint. However, I lost my passion and interest in art, exchanging that for getting married, having children, going to college, and climbing the corporate ladder. My life’s achievements did not fill the hole of creativity, and I realized I missed some of the simple things that brought me joy. In the past 10 years, I have painted scenes on rocks and pottery. I recently painted my first pictures on canvas in 40 years: bald eagles on canvas. Mediums for my artwork include flat canvas, stretched canvas, statues, rocks, and pottery. Every painting is one-of-a-kind and signed by me.
As you know, scientists say that humans have 5 senses: touch, taste, hear, smell, and sight. Some people might even have a 6th sense; knowing something might happen before it becomes a reality. But, for people who admire art, there is a 7th sense: the call of the soul. As you review my portfolio, I want you to allow your 7th sense to take over and find the perfect piece or pieces that match your soul, personality, and décor.
